Geetha, a determined and hardworking woman from Erode district, has faced significant challenges in her life due to her condition of dwarfism. Despite these challenges, she pursued her education with great dedication and successfully completed her B.Com in Computer Applications. She lives with her parents and brother, in a modest home where her father, a daily wage worker, was the sole breadwinner. His meager earnings barely covered the family’s basic needs, often leaving them struggling to meet even essential expenses like food and clothing.

After completing her graduation, Geetha hoped to find a job that would allow her to contribute to her family’s income and improve their standard of living. However, despite her qualifications, she encountered numerous obstacles in the job market, primarily due to her disability. Employers were hesitant to offer her opportunities, and Geetha found herself unable to secure a stable job.

Recognizing her potential and the difficult circumstances her family was facing, the Tamil Nadu Differently Abled Federation Charitable Trust (TNDFCT) identified Geetha through the Erode District Association. Understanding her aspirations and challenges, TNDFCT, with the support of Five Star Finance Services Limited, provided her with a bunk shop. This initiative was not just about giving her a business; it was about giving her the tools and support she needed to succeed.

In addition to the bunk shop, Geetha received training on how to run the shop effectively. This training covered essential aspects of entrepreneurship, including customer service, inventory management, and basic financial skills. Furthermore, TNDFCT provided her with working capital assistance to help her stock the shop and get started on the right foot.

Today, Geetha is the proud owner of a thriving multi-product shop. She earns at least Rs. 500 per day, which has significantly impacted her

family’s financial situation. Her income now helps to alleviate the financial burden on her father, ensuring that the family can meet their basic needs and live more comfortably.
